EcoFlow’s new Energy Hat have to be the dorkiest piece of headgear I’ve ever heard of — and I believe I like it? It’s a wide-brimmed floppy-ish solar hat stuffed with photo voltaic cells that you could cost your cellphone with. EcoFlow says it could actually cost a 4,000mAh smartphone to capability “in as quick as 3–4 hours.” Sounds preferrred for casually scrolling feeds at a campsite or surviving in a sun-blasted, Mad Maxian desert wasteland.
In response to EcoFlow’s specs, the $129 Energy Hat’s photo voltaic cells are created from a skinny, versatile materials known as passivated emitter and rear contact (PERC) monocrystalline silicon. It affords roughly 12-watt charging through the USB-A and USB-C connectors on the underside of the brim. The entire thing weighs 370 grams.
Oh, and the Energy Hat is IP65 rated, that means it’s dust-proof and might stand up to water jets from any course (though I query whether or not that holds true when you’re pointing an excellent soaker on the USB ports). Right here’s a promotional video, full with an inoffensive, vaguely Kings of Leon-sounding soundtrack, which is ideal floppy hat music if my previous music pageant expertise is any indication:
The hat is available in two measurement ranges. The smaller one is adjustable between 56–58cm (22–22.8 inches) whereas the bigger measurement is 59–61cm (23.2–24 inches). The Energy Hat might be out there in preorder till August thirty first and EcoFlow says it expects to begin transport them out in mid-September.
